Be Successful in Mediation

The goals of family mediation for a lot of people is to save themselves time, anxiety and money.

We have listed some principles to follow when going through the mediation process:

  • Mediation is voluntary. Evaluate yourself to ensure you are well enough to go through this process - both mentally and physically.

  • Have an open mind.

  • Listen and be patient.

  • Be willing to accept new information.

  • Seek legal advice if you are feeling uncertain about your decisions.

  • Think outside the box.

  • Do not rush into an Agreement.

  • Ensure financial disclosure has been provided.

  • Know your interests and your partners interests .

  • Ask questions.

Trying your best to follow these principles can help achieve your goals. The best outcome is one that ends with you and your partner feeling content with your Agreement and moving on with a positive mindset.

Mediation is a process led by a highly qualified, experienced and impartial professional who will help you and your ex-partner come to agreements on all aspects of your separation. You leave the process with a legally binding separation agreement and parenting plan if needed.

A Separation Agreement is a contract between you and your spouse or partner that states the settlement of issues relating to your separation. Drafting your Separation Agreement is an administrative task and by doing so does not mean we are implying that we are lawyers and providing any legal advice.  We strongly encourage any persons who are going through mediation to receive Independent Legal advice from a family law lawyer.
